Be Beautiful <3
"I'm no beauty queen I'm just beautiful me" -Selena Gomez :)

Last Blog ;(

I learned a lot when i was here in HIA working for AMA. We did lots of things and a group we talked about real life situations about drugs and alcohol ETC. I learned a lot about HIV and AIDS as well because we had about 3 or 4 speakers who cam and talked to us about to prevent it and to be safe. One of the speakers came back and talked to us about College. So now i feel like i  know more than before. I learned that Condoms don’t always work if you put it in the wrong way, girls have their own condoms too! I found out that the Twins stadium is right next to a garbage cleaning place, not a lot of their fans know that. I learned how to budget money when and if i go to college. This experience taught me how to be professional when at a job interview and if i’m in a certain job. I also learned in my step up classes what is the difference between a debit and credit card.

From what i learned in this job and what i learned in step up will be helpful when i want to get another job in the future, because i did not know anything about being professional. Before i thought being professional you just had to wear nice clothes but now i know it’s all on how you speak and dress and your body language.

I will use the information that i learned when i go back to school because a lot of what i learned might be in my health books. I did some math work too so it will come in handy. I hope i will still remember all this when i got o college because that’s gonna be 3 to 2 more years.

This summer.

I worked this summer as most of you should know. For about 3 or 2 weeks i was a manager of three other peers, Molly, Kong and Steven. We did about two projects together. Personal Style & Healthy Relationships. We also did post cards and these are our postcards we did & some other ones i did in the past.

Yeah* i lost some of them but, ANY ways… This summer was a good summer, i made money, and worked everyday except on the weekends. I also met new people and people at my school that i didn’t even know of.
My co-workers and i went to different places we went t the twins Stadium, that was a cool experience for me because i never been there before and that was my first time, we had free food and went to the seats where i could never AFFORD to sit in.
We also had a canoe trip but on the day the girls went it was raining so the girls had to go watch a movie instead. We watched Zoo Keeper, it was good… Could of been better.
& now we are going on a plane trip. We’re not going any where we are just gonna see how it is. The place is all the way past Bloomington, but i can’t wait for it because i never been on a plane before. :)
I learned a lot this summer. It felt like Health Class more than Work. I learned more about Tobacco use, and that it gives you a lot of diseases that cant be helped some times. Alcohol use i learned that every does it at least once ;) Also that it kills brain cells and gives you kidney problems. Obesity was another one, i found out that a lot of younger kids are obese because of eating too much junk food and watching TV all day. We also talked about SEX EDUCATION. That was VERY interesting, because i learned about all these STD, HIV and AIDS diseases. The pictures we saw in class at North were DISTURBING ! We learned and talked about a lot of others such as LOVE, Beauty and ETC.
My experience was good at AMA, i liked the people i met and my supervisors. BUT MOSTLY THE MONEY I MADE :D

For the last few days from last thursday and friday and of today 07/25/11 we are learning about HIV, AIDS, and etc. I learned a lot more about these subjects. I knew the main things about these topics but after talking to people from these programs i found out a lot more. How there are different kinds of condoms, birth pills, ways to protect yourself and etc. Last week on thursday and Friday the girl who came in she was May and she played games with us for what we think about the question either we go to neutral, agree or disagree side. We did surveys about what we know about HIV and AIDS. She gave us 10 dollar gift cards to target, cubs or walmart. She showed us different kinds of condoms and how to put on a condom and how to use protective things for the girls.  As of today we learned about HIV and AIDS as well… But now we are taking HIV tests. They basically prick your middle finger of the hand that u don’t write with, and they put it inside a needle like thing and after a few minutes you find out if your positive which is two lines or negative which is one line. Your answer you get is for you only, so if your friends want to know and you don’t want to tell don’t tell. :)

My slogans !

Tried my best! enjoy !

If the world… was a free alcoholic place people wouldn’t die so much of drunk driving

Tomorrow is always… a mystery so live the present well to make the future better

My father had said once… Help me drink this.

A good friend… will be cool if you don’t drink

Pressuring someone… is not cool

Jumping off a bridge is like… drinking to your death

Love will always… bring you up and alcohol will always bring you down

Genuine friendships are….

The grass is…

When you feel down… think positive and above the influence

Picking friends is like… picking the influential path

Being alone is…

No matter what… know your limits of how far not to go.

Live life to the fullest but…. Know the consequences of alcohol when drinking

A philosopher once said….

The weatherman’s forecast states… When the weather is hot people get mad; don’t Drink on hot days!

Your future is… what you make of it and what you do to it. Be smart.

If I were to chose…

The media… will always be persuading people to drink, if you’re under age be smart and make your decision at the legal age.

If I had an app it would…

A photo describes… who you are but if your not a drinker and you take a photo of you drinking to be cool, STOP.

A mother’s love is… not abusive but influential

A father’s love when said is mostly three words, I don’t care, but inside they are really saying no, they do care.

The world could be… a better place if people didn’t die from drunk driving.

Getting struck…. By lighting is life changing but tipsy is different

Using an escape rope is like… trying to run from an addiction of alcohol

There is no need for… alcohol when you have family and friends

If I could I would… stop all use of drugs and alcohol.

Dear Mr. President… Do something to help usage of alcohol.

The media does a lot of  advertising with items such as Alcohol. They know its for older people from ages 21+ but sometimes younger teenagers want it too. Example is when i saw this commercial with this handsome guy making him self an alcoholic drink i really wanted some because he was so good looking and it looked good. It’s easy to make people want things by the way you make it sound or how you make it look in their eyes.         Well for my age group. I know a lot of people my age who drink, to them its fun but sometimes i think they are just drinking to make themselves look good for guys and girls. I don’t drink like at every party but i only drink (a little) when my mom isn’t looking because she doesn’t want me to do it because she says i’m too young but my dad doesn’t seem to mind.           How i live above the influence is by just telling myself i can do better than drink and be like others. I want to be a unique individual who doesn’t follow. It’s hard though because i am Hmong and i think if your Hmong you can’t really run away from alcohol usage. Hmong people drink at like every tradition thing we do. So it’s hard when both of my sides of parents families drink so.     I don’t think the perception of alcohol can change if we knew the age we are suppose to drink at because most of us know what the legal age is. Plus if the media and government knew (because they should know) the legal age of drinking is 21+ than why would they put it in the TV that kids watch, magazines which teenagers read and other places. It seems more like they are wanting us to drink even if we are not at the legal age yet…. Know what i’m saying… So it won’t change because teens and adults have been doing ti for years it would take a long time to stop it.

Target Field

The place I liked the most was the highest place in the stadium, it was on top of the retired numbers. I liked it because it had breeze and it was right next to the view of Minnesota. It had a bar too so if you need something to drink you could get it in a hurry and plus it seemed like a good place to have a dance party. J

The thing I found most interesting was that they had suites and the entire suite names were named after lakes in Minnesota. I thought it was fascinating because I didn’t even know that Minnesota had lakes like that. There was Snowball Lake, red lake and more. It was interesting.

At the end when the vise president came and talked to us I thought some of us were rude because he almost left. But we asked him questions and learned a lot about the job he does, how it gets to people out of Minnesota, and more. The questions I remember are, “How much do you spend on Advertising?” He replied that it was about 1.5 million dollars on advertising. “How do you get to people who aren’t baseball fans?” He replied that he wants not only the twins to be for Minnesota but for everyone so they advertise to others out of Minnesota. I think this was a good thing that we met him because we learned a lot more about the twins and the job that he does for them.

This is how our day went it was good; it was my first time in the target field. We learned that target was on a 30-year contract for the twin’s stadium to be named target field. Wild animals can come in because the windows and everywhere else is like an opening for them to come in; I thought it was cool to see birds in the stadium. The food was good but the sandwiches were plain but I loved the potatoes salad. We ate out on seats outside it was pretty to see them water the grass on the field and the wind.  That was pretty much our day.
